Tamarillo Clafoutis

1/2 cup flour
Pinch salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
3 free-range eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
30g butter
8 small or 6 large tamarillos, peeled and sliced

Preheat oven to 220C. Place butter in a small baking dish (a metal dish works best) and warm in the oven for at least five minutes. The butter should be melted and the dish hot.
Beat together the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla extract.
Arrange the tamarillos in the hot baking dish and pour over the batter, then sprinkle with 1 tbsp of sugar. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the clafoutis has risen and browned. Check the clafoutis is ready by inserting a skewer into the centre - it should come out clean.
Serve with whipped cream, ice cream, yoghurt, mascarpone or creme fraiche.
